Delhi was founded by Gujjar Tanwars

Delhi was founded by Gujjar Tanwars

Delhi was founded by Gujjar Tanwars and named after the Gujjar Pratihar Emperor Mihir Bhoja the Great as Mihirawli, now called as Mehrauli is still dominated by Gujjar Tanwars.
Mr. Kanwar Singh Tanwar belong to a village Fateh Pur. This is really a good pace of progress by Gujjar tanwars considering the fcat that no Gujjar Male of more than 12 years of age of Fateh Pur was left alive after the 1857 revolt.
All the three candidates for Delhi assembly seats are from Tanwar gotra of Gujjars.
Here is the report about him published in a leading National News Paper.
This BSP candidate is worth Rs 150 crore 11 Nov 2008, 0241 hrs IST, Dipak Kumar Dash, TNN Print Email Discuss Share Save Comment Text:

NEW DELHI: He is perhaps the richest candidate in the fray for the Delhi assembly elections. BSP nominee from Chhatarpur Kanwar Singh Tanwar disclosed that he owned movable and immovable assets worth Rs 150 crore while filing his nomination papers on Monday afternoon. His net worth is thus almost 15 times the MLA local area development fund an elected representative is entitled to during his five-year tenure.
In a scenario where the majority of candidates prefer to be "discreet" when it comes to disclosing their wealth, Tanwar says "submitting wrong information in an affidavit is a crime" and that's precisely why he was "honest" in filing his affidavit. "Why should I hide anything? Wrong disclosure does not help as people of my locality know about my wealth. They are aware I have joined politics not to make money but to work for them and my locality,'' the aspiring MLA said.
Tanwar was born to a village assessee. Now a large chunk of his disclosed wealth is in the form of agricultural and non-agricultural land which includes a farmhouse in his name and an apartment owned by his wife worth Rs 5.3 crore. Clubbed together the total comes to Rs 150 crore. Besides this, his affidavit submitted with the returning officer (Mehrauli) also includes a fleet of luxury cars worth Rs 1.66 crore. Three of them are Mercs and he also owns a tractor, an indicator of his rural roots. Tanwar, who has dabbled in real estate as well, belongs to village Fatehpur Beri near Chhatarpur.
Moreover, he and his wife have invested approximately Rs 4.16 crore in banks and bonds and both of them have jewellery worth Rs 21.5 lakh. Surprisingly, this politician has taken two loans amounting to Rs 24.95 lakh from two banks.
Tanwar, who is also the secretary of BSP Delhi state unit, claims neither he nor his family have ever shown off wealth. His close associates maintain that the leader has come this far through sheer hard work. In fact, this was evident when thousands of his supporters marched behind him when he started his padyatra from his village led by two elephants, the "live" party symbols.
Locals maintain the leader has earned enough good will with his social service in the last seven or eight years. "What's wrong if he has huge wealth? He has been running two AC dispensaries on wheels to provide free health care to the needy. He has been providing water free of charge to people with his fleet of over 20 water tankers,'' said Yogendra Bidhuri of Chhatarpur village.
Tanwar provides all these services under the umbrella of Narayani Devi Trust, which has been named after his mother and his father is the chairman of the body. This BSP candidate also distributes monthly pension to approximately 1,700 widows. "To ensure this continues, the trust has invested Rs 10 crore as fixed deposit,'' said one of his close aides.
Sure of his victory, the leader promises to bring maximum government funds to his constituency and to work for all round development of the locality. "I am not money hungry. With God's grace I have enough to take care of my family. I will give back to everyone if they elect me,'' Tanwar says.

The Gujjar is the largest tribe of the World

The U.S.A. and her allied countries had propounded the idea of a broad-based Government in Afghanistan, comprising of all the ethnic and linguastic groups. The western countries had false perception about the exact ethnic and linguastic division of Afghanistan. It was mistakenly believed that the Afghnistan is ethnically devided into Pushtoons and Persian speaking Northern alliance. The U.S.A. and its allies, while forming the present Karzai Government in Afghanistan, absolutely ignored the second largest and major ethnic Gujjar community. The Gujjars constitutes to be 35% of Afghanistan’s total population.

2. The Gujjar is the largest tribe of the World, which is admittedly recognized to be the major ethnic group in Pakistan, India, Indo-Pak held Jammu & Kashmir, Xing Xiang(China), Tibet, Nepal, Bhuttan, Sakkum, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Georgia and other Central Asian States. The Gujjars can rightly be termed as an International tribe, who are not restricted and confined by the frontiers or borders.
3. There is much known about the Gujjars dwelling in almost all parts of India and Pakistan. There population in India and Pakistan is 20 & 03-billion respectively. The Sub-Continent and Central Asia was ruled for centuries by the Gujjars, also known as Gurjars. It was during their rule that thousands of places were named after them or their sub-tribes in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Central Asian States, e.g. Gujarat, Gujaranwala, Gujarwal, Gujar Dhar, Gujar Garrh, Gujar Khan, Kalla Gujjaran, Gujar Garrhi, Gurjistan, Gujarni, Gujaristan, Georjia, Gujar Abad and Gujar Khashi, There are numerous places named after the sub-clans of Gujjars, e.g.Chechania, Chechian, Jhanda Chechi, Kharian, New-Katarian, etc.
4. The Gujjars of Afghanistan have always played a very important and significant role in Afghanistan. The Afghanistan is broadly divided into four major ethnic groups, i.e.
(1)-Pushtoons 40%,
(2)-Gujjars speaking Gujari and other languages 35%,
(3)-Persian speaking 10% and
(4)-others 15%.
The over whelming and majority population of 14 Provinces of Afghanistan consists of Gujjar tribe, who generally speak Gujjari language. In some areas they also speak Pushto or Persian in addition to Gujjari language. This language is also spoken by the Gujjars of India and Pakistan. The Gujjarati, Daccani, Rajasthani, Mewati and mewarri, according to some scholars, are the regional names and dialects of Gujjari language. A brief and approximate account of Gujjar population in some of the Afghan-Provinces is given hereunder  Kunnarr : This province is situated in the south of Afghanistan andin the North of Pakistan. The Gujjar tribe is living with over-whelming majority in this Province. The famous towns and villages of the Gujjars are Narrai, Asmar, Hari Kot, Tashagul, Konigul, Gorin, Inchagal, Samsagal, Karchigal, Bazagal, Batash, Hegal and Asoom, etc.
ii) Lughman : Its more than 50% population consists of Gujjar tribe. There are approximately 45-villages having hundred percent Gujjar population.
iii) Panjsher : The Gujjars constitutes 40% population of this Province.Perkhar and Wersak towns are the famous strong-holds of the Gujjars.
iv) Badakhshan : The Gujjars constitutes half of the population of this Province. The Bajjarr, Chauhan, Bherwal, Jangle, Bhaddana, Kohli, Doei and Bokarra are the famous sub-tribes/clans of Gujjars living in this Province.

vi) Farkhar : More than 90% population of this Province belongs to the Gujjar community. The Dashtiachi, Namakao, Khestazi and Khefdar, etc. are the famous towns & villages of the Gujjar tribe.
vii) Mazar Sharif : In this Province over 30% population consists of Gujjar community.
viii) Baglan : In this Province over 40% population belongs to the Gujjar caste.
ix) Aneshkamesh : The 70% population of this Province is consisted of Gujjar tribe.
x) Palol : The Gujjar is a majority tribe of this Province. The Gujjar commanders Mr. Ghulam Sakhi Khattana and Mr.Fardol Khatana, the militant leaders of Harkat-e-Islamia Afghanistan also belonged to this Province. They inflicted collosal loss to the enemy during the cold-war.
xi) Andraf : The Gujjars constitues ¾ population of this Province. The Gujjar Generals Moman Bherwal and Mr. Arbab Therwal Malang, the militant Gujjar Commanders of Hizb-e-Islami belonged to this province. These Generals earned lot of name and recognition during the cold-war.
xii) Taloqan : The Gujjars forms half of the population of the Province. Mr. Arbab Hakeem Chechi, the Supreme Gujjar Commander of Hizb-e-Islami also belonged to this Province. He also earned world wide recognition during the cold war.
xiii) Shabargan : The Gujjars are 1/3 of the total population of this Province.
5. The Gujjars are also living with a prominent sizeable minority in the following Provinces of Afghanistan : -
i Nangarhar,
ii Kabul,
iii Logar,
iv Qandhar,
v Gazni,
vi Kapisa,
vii Gardez,
viii Tamroze, and
ix Harat.
6. The Gujjars played a leading role in war (Jehad) against the U.S.S.R. since beginning in the year 1979. Mir Afzal Chechi of Kunnarr Province was one of the leading founders to organise and start the war(Jehad) to liberate Afghanistan from the clutches of U.S.S.R., who also sacrificed his life for the sacred cause. Malik Sher Afzal and Malik Qabeel of Kunnarr Province also significantly contributed towards organizing the war and Jehad against the U.S.S.R.
7. The following militant leaders of various Jahadi organizations, who fought against the U.S.S.R., also belonged to the Gujjar tribe of Afghanistan:-
i) Dr.M.Abdul Qayyum, Founder, Hizb-e-Islam
ii) Maulana M.Younas Khalis Quaid, Hizb-e-Islam
iii) Muhammad Ayub, Amir, Tanzeem Ahl-e-Hadith
iv) Ghulam Chechi, Commander Hizb-e-Islam
v) Mauland Akhawandzada Commander Harkat-e-Islami
vi) Nadir Khan Commander Harkat-e-Islami
vii) Arbab Mian Gul Chechi Commander Jamaat-e-Islami
viii) Haji Zardali Commander Hizb-e-Islami
ix) Haji Daim Khan Commander Tanzeem Ahl-e-Hadith
x) Musafar Khan Commander Hizb-e-Islami
xi) Maulana Umra Khan Commander Hizb-e-Islami
xii) Haji Badam Khan Commander Mahaz-e-Milli
xiii) Mir Alam Commander Jamat-e-Islami
xiv) Malik Sadbar Commander Hizb-e-Islami
xv) Maulana Kaduaali Amir Islami Hizb
xvi) Mirza Lal Doei Commander Jamat-e-Islami
xvii) Madir Gujjarwal Commander Harkat-e-Islami
xviii) Malik Jabeen Chechi Commander Hizb-e-Islam
ixix) Malik Shireen Commander Hizb-e-Islami
xx) Malik Maasal Commander Hizb-e-Islami
xxi) Hazrat Bilal Sher Commander Harkat-e-Islami
xxii) Malik Gul Sharif Commander Tanzeem Ahl-e-Hadith
8. The thousands of Gujjar Mujahideens sacrificed their lives while fighting against USSR during the period of cold war. A large number of Gujjars had to migrate to Pakistan and other neighbouring countries during and after the cold-war. The majority of Gujjar migratees were living in Bhai Cheena Camps, Anayat Kaley Camps in Bajorr Agency, Dodaba Camps and Ranrri Camps in Dir district of Pakistan.
9. The culture, language, customs and traditions of the Gujjars are entirely different than the pushtoon ethnic stock. The Gujjars of Afghanistan speaks Gujjari language, the language that also spoken in most of the areas of Indo & Pakistan and enjoys its representation on a number of state owned Radio and Television channels in India and Pakistan.
10. It will be worth mentioning that the Pushto speaking population do not belong to one community, triabal or racial group rather they are devided into Shanwaris, Afridis, Safis, Khattaks, Mashwanis and Yousafzais, etc. etc., whereas, on the contrary the Gujjars of Afghanistan belongs to one racial and tribal group unlike Pushtoons, who are just a linguistic group.
11. The over 30-Million Gujjars in Pakistan and 20-Billion Gujjars in India had extended their implied and unconditional support to the notion of forming the broad based Afghan-Government comprising of all the ethnic groups and communities in Afghanistan so to win the war against terror.
12. It was expected that the Gujjars being the second largest ethnic and linguistic community certainly was to be considered as a significant constitutent in broad-based government as by ignoring the Gujjars neither any government can function as a representative establishment nor that could be a workable or perpetual solution to the growing problems of Afghanistan. The U.S.A., U.K. and Pakistan Governments should have derived an acceptable formula giving due representation to the Gujjars of Afghanistan.
13. The worrior & majority Gujjar tribe has not been given any representation while forming the present Afghan Government, the result is obvious, the writ of presetn Afghan-Government could hardly be established within the radious of only two Kilo meter area and more specifically speaking within the Presidential Compound under the guard and security of Allied forces. They are the brave Gujjars only who can restrict and confine the war-lords into their cloths and can bring the perpetual peace in Afghanistan. These Gujjars of Afghanistan also enjoys the unshaken support of 23-billion Gujjars of Pakistan and India. The Allied Forces, in order to bring the perpetual peace in Afghanistan, may even now draw a strategy to form a true representative Aghan-Government.Thank of Articles by Ch. M. Ashraf Gujjar

Sardar Abdul Rehman Gojar

Pir Samiullah gujjar khatana

Pir Samiullah gujjar khatana was the first tribal leader in Swat to raise a lashkar, or tribal army, to oppose the Taliban. He claimed to have organized more than 10,000 tribesmen to oppose the Taliban and protect 20 villages. Samiullah and his followers are members of the Gujjar community, which is a group distinct from the dominant Pashtun tribal confederations that support the Taliban.

Pir was rival tribal and religious leader opposing Mullah Fazlullah's forces in the Matta region of Swat. Pir and eight of his followers were killed in a Taliban assault on Dec. 16 2008. Two of his aides were subsequently beheaded in public, while an estimated 40 of his followers have been captured. The Taliban also torched the houses of Samiullah and 15 elders of his group.

Sajjad To Chair MEP's Code of Conduct Committee

Former opponents in the race to be the European Parliament President for 2014-2019 came together this week to bury the past behind them and focus on the future of the Parliament, particular on improving transparency.

European Parliament President, Martin Schulz, appointed British Pakistani MEP Dr Sajjad Karim for a second time to chair his Advisory Committee on the Code of Conduct for MEPs.

The committee, established in 2012, sees dual national Dr Karim continue his chairmanship from last term.

During the meeting in the President's private office the two men had a fruitful exchange and the atmosphere was relaxed.

After the meeting Dr Karim said:"It is an honour to be re-appointed by the European Parliament President to Chair the President's committee which oversees the ethics and transparency.

"The committee has made great strides in giving citizens more access to declarations of financial interest of MEPs. All declarations are published online and MEPs have to know give more information such as declare any third party payments they receive."

The Advisory Committee is composed of five MEPs, with two reserve MEPs. Dr Karim is the only dual national MEP to serve on the committee. The Code of Conduct came into force on 1 January 2012 and has worked to publish more information of MEPs expenses and outside interests online.

Citizens now have greater access to see what their MEPs are doing outside the Parliament.

GURJAR ISM words by Thakur Yashpal Singh Rajput

Ref: http://www.scribd.com/doc/77571532/Gurjar-Ism

GURJAR ISM

“It is beyond human power to lessen the dignity of the Gurjars”

, words by Thakur Yashpal Singh Rajput, famous historian and researcher of Indian History. Millions liters blood of Gurjar community flooded on this earth for protection of our culture and religion. It is bitter historical truth thatdifferent invaders committed mass assassinations of Gurjars and differentinvaders and foreign rulers snatched their lands and powers from them as Gurjar community always created resistance against foreign invaders and cruel rulers time to time for 1000 years right up to Revolt of 1857. During these resistances, they lost their powers, properties, and miserably came to end in British era. It is the beginning of deep pains of the poverty andcontinues until date that developed an inferiority complex in entire Gurjar community. It is always my subject matter to have brain storming, how to reinstate the prosperity of Gurjar community, how to show this community the days they were bearing in their past, how to create an accountability for their sacrifices that they did time to time for conservation of the Indian culture, for protecting mother earth and religion? We have to reinstate the Gurjar community to all the states that it was bearing in their past. If we go through the history of Gurjars then we find that they were having their own culture that still exists in Gurjar community, they have articulated social laws that are included in their culture. Then what is the wrong? I am not the one capable to make any comment upon such great community at once, but what I found is that, they have everything but there is lack of unity and an articulated intercommunity cooperation system! Yes, it is fact that they have great culture, capabilities and everything that an ideal noble community bears, but, due to absence of an intercommunity cooperation system, Gurjar community, the ruler of this territory, now laid behind time. They were rulers of maximum territory in India up to the revolt of 1857 but as all these statesdid not have any sort of unity mechanism, intercommunity cooperationsystem and coordination that weakened their power to fight against modern warfare of British. Due to this, their assets have been destroyed, purposefully kept away from development, their fertile lands have been snatched, their political importance have been degraded, created the circumstances that developed inferiority complex into them that ruined generations and once prosperous Gurjar community transformed into a poor community in India due to lack of intercommunity cooperation system. Now it is time to awaken the community and set for achieving whatever we lost in the past, now it is time to rectify all our mistakes that our forefathers have committed in past, now it is time to take care of the thing that everyone, even the Government machinery, should listen to our voice. How it is possible? Obviously, thequestion comes and the answer is Gurjar ISM, Gurjar IntercommunitySurvival Movement, is an initiative to reinstate Gurjar community’s Golden days as were in the past. Even though we call it a development process butas per my vision it is not only a development process but also it is a process of reinstating Gurjar community to the state and power at all levels that they were bearing in the past.

Turbulences

Gurjar, Gujar, Gajjar, Gujjar, Gojara, Gujaran, Gojar, Gujara etc and so manyto reckon are the names and attributes for Gurjar community, mentioningGurjar here, as I am Gurjar. As Gurjars are living since our culture exists and ruled over maximum territory of the Asia, they were the rulers thus have long, noble and pious history. If I put the entire history here that is not be appropriate as it is out of scope of this document as noble and dignified history of Gurjars cannot be framed into some thousands of pages but that requires millions of pages and one life is not sufficient for writing entire history of Gurjars. However, I consider it necessary to put some historical facts in front of my brothers and sisters, they are necessary and we all should read, understand those pages very carefully, and then think where wearer and what to do? What mistakes we have been committing? To whom, we, at this time, have to consider responsible for such drastic situation of Gurjar Community now days? I completed Engineering and was facing interview then an incident happened and I inspired from the incident. It was when Ihave to go to Mumbai; it was Bombay at the time, for competitiveexamination for the post of Engineer in Telecommunication Department. After finishing written exam, day after tomorrow was the oral examination. On the day of oral examination, I approached the office where the interview was organized. I saw a person passing by, he was Gurjar, I was in crowd, some meters away from him, I called loudly in our own Gurjari language, he stopped, but his bodily reaction was not fair. Even though I reached him asking all the routine questions in Gurjari language, he was calm not uttering single word. I confused, then he told me in pure Marathi to not to speak in Gurjari language. Anyway I finished talking with an oath in my mind to not to speak with that person again in life, continuing the oath until date. The incidence was simple but it had raised so many turbulences in my mind. Why he said me to speak into Marathi only? What are the reasons that developed inferiority complex in Gurjar community? Even when I was schooling I used to ask a question to myself every community is progressing why not Gurjars? Why Gurjars try to hide their caste? Why they do not speak their own Gurjari language in public? Why they hesitate to speak Gurjari Language? Gurjars have great population why they do not have remarkable influence on Indian politics. Why they are not in the main stream of Power and Politics? Who resist them to enter into the main stream? Why there are resisting them? Income of the constituencies Gurjars votes are influential and Gurjar can beeasily elected, then why Gurjar person doesn’t fight election from thatconstituency and rather to become slave of that MLA or MP why he himself come into political power? Why Gurjars do not have any media house yet? While the communities very small in population, not genetically sound, having no noble history at all to count them to be liable for ruling over anyconstituency, they are having a big marriage hall, Samaj Bhavan orcommunity hall? Another very dirty question that always makes me awake from the sleep is, other communities who do not have right history and if it is that have no connection with history of Gurjars, they are snatching our history from us and we are just in the role of audience. Why Gurjar do not protest such matters? Are we really sleeping or pretending to sleep?

ChalukyaGurjjars ruled over the Deccan plateau in India for over 600 years

The ChalukyaGurjjars ruled over the Deccan plateau in India for over 600 years

Historians D. R. Bhandarkar and Hoernle hold the view that Chalukyas were one of the ruling clans of Gurjaras (or Gujjars), citing the name change of Lata province to Gurjaratra during the reign. Bhandarkar explains that If the chalukyas had not been Gurjars, it is inconceivable how that province could have named Gurjaratra (country ruled or protected by Gurjars) when it was up-till their advent known as Lata. However according to the scholar D. P. Dikshit, the Chalukyas ruled over that part of country formerly known as Lata and taken as Gurjaratra or Gujarat implied the Chalukyas made a change in the nomenclature because of their close association with the region. V. A. Smith and A. M. T. Jackson also endorsed the view that Chalukyas were a branch of famous Gurjar or Gujjars

The ChalukyaGurjjars ruled over the Deccan plateau in India for over 600 years. During this period, they ruled as three closely related, but individual dynasties. These are the "Chalukyas of Badami" (also called "Early Chalukyas"), who ruled between the 6th and the 8th century, and the two sibling dynasties, the "Chalukyas of Kalyani" (also called Western Chalukyas or "Later Chalukyas") and the "Chalukyas of Vengi" (also called Eastern Chalukyas

According to a myth mentioned in latter manuscripts of Prithviraj Raso, Solankis were born out of fire-pit (Agnikund) at Mount Abu. However it has been reported that the story of Agnikula and the word rajput are not mentioned at all in the original version of the Prithviraj Raso preserved in the Fort Library at Bikaner.

Khatan Gujjar

Khatana Gotra belong to Gujjar Kusha Era and Gujjar Khatana rulers used the same title as Gujjar Kushans.

Rajatiraya ( Rajaon ka Raja) and Saha-nu Shahi ( Shahon ka Shah) were the title used by the Gujjars during the days of Gujjar Kushan Empire. Later the same title was used by Gujjar Pratihar as PMP ( Param Bhattaraka Maharajadhiraja Parmeshwar). The Mughals copied the title of Gujjar Kushans as Shah-nu-Sahi or Shahanshah, since they were ruled by the Gujjars during the Gujjar Kushan Empire.
Samarkand was the winter capital of Gujjar Kushan which is located in Uzbekistan, the birth place of Babar.
Here is the historical evidence of Gujjar Emperor Vijai Singh Khatana.
The first concrete evidence of an Iranian presence in the country is found in a document probably of the 3rd century, discovered by M. A. Stein at the site of Endere (facsimile in Stein, 1921, pl. xxxviii; transcription in Boyer and Senart, p. 249; tr. 1940, p. 137; cf. Emmerick, 1979, p. 168 and n. 7). It was written in a local Middle Indian dialect in Kharoṣṭhî script by Khotana maharaya rayatiraya hinajha Vij’ida Siṃha “General Vijida Simha, great king, king of kings of Khotan” in his tenth chuna (< Khot. kṣuṇa) “regnal year.” The Khotanese title hînâysa (pronounced hînâza, lit. “army leader”) is also attested in much later indigenous texts.
This imformation is taken from one of the Iranian records.
That confirm that Iran was also under Gujjar control during the Gujjar Kushan Empire.
I would like to mention that the Gujjar Gotras of Kasana and Khatana are mentioned in the original Kushan inscriptions as "Kasano" and "Khatano" as spoken among Gujjars in Gojari language even today.

Don’t get divided : TRCF to Gujjars-Bakerwals

Don’t get divided : TRCF to Gujjars-Bakerwals Srinagar - 25th of May 2014. Cautioning the Gujjars and Bakerwals of Jammu and Kashmir of the attempt of some particular groups mainly active in Poonch, Rajouri districts and Uri , Karanah Tehsils to divide our community on small ethnic lines –the Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation -a frontal organisation today appealed the tribe to remain united on all fronts and give a befitting reply to disintegrating forces. Dr. Javaid Rahi , Secretary of Tribal Foundation while addressing a meeting community members here stated that some people in border areas of the state are bent upon to segregate the vibrant Gujjar identity into two parts which is highly condemnable and deeply intolerable. He said that Gujjars and Bakerwals are one Tribe popularly known as Gujjars or Gurjars in South Asia. He said Gujjars have many names like Ajjadh , Dhangar, Dohdhi, Vanvasi and added that those Gujjars who rear “goats” are called Bakerwals- as word Bakarwal is derived from the term, Bakri/Bakar meaning "goat/Sheep", and Wal meaning "one who takes care of" therefore this name was given to those Gujjars who are rearing goats and Sheeps. He said they – Gujjars and Bakerwals - share same History, Culture, Language-Gojri- and racial identity . Even all anthropological and genetic studies conducted on Gujjars-Bakerwals says that they are not a separate identities in any ways, he added. He said in 1991 the Gujjars-Bakerwals are granted Tribal status in Jammu and Kashmir and a study was conducted by Union Government of India before granting the Scheduled Tribe Status to them . The study reveals that Bakerwal is another name of Gujjars entered in revenue records that’s why both the names ( Gujjars and Bakerwals ) were included while the community was enlisted in tribal category in Indian constitutions. Dr. Rahi said ‘Hazrat Baba Abdullah Larvi’ popularly known as Babaji Sahib” R A of Wangat Kangan Kashmir-the grandfather of Mian Bashir Ahmed was a Bakerwal-Bajran-Gujjar saint and was most revered by Gujjars of Jammu and Kashmir thereby the division created by some anti Gujjar forces among Gujjars-Bakerwals is irrational ,illogical and unjustified. Essentially, the name "Bakarwal" implies "high-altitude goatherds/shepherds" Gujjars .The Bakarwals belongs to the same ethnicity stock as the Gujjars, and inter-marriages freely take place among them. They enjoy equal status in Tribal society Dr Rahi said and added there are number of examples where one brothers name entered in revenue record as Bakerwal and Others as Gujjars. Recently there were some reports of division between Gujjars-Bakerwals and some non tribal groups of Poonch and Rajouri are instigating a wrong war to divide Gujjar community who form third largest group of the State after Kashmiri and Dogras and constitute more than 20% population of total population of Jammu and Kashmir.(by dr javed rahi.
