The Kushans were part of the Yuezhi tribes, originally from the regions around the Tarim Basin (modern-day Xinjiang, China). Ascension : Kanishka is believed to have ascended to the throne around 127 CE, succeeding his father, Kujula Kadphises, who had established the Kushan Empire.
